The opening later this summer of a new pub and deli at the former Wenns pub in Lynn’s Saturday Market Place is set to attract more tourists to town and boost the local economy.

Fifteen new jobs will be created through the new enterprise which will be run by Richard and Lucy Golding, who own the award-winning Market Bistro next door.

Eight self-catering apartments upstairs, some with views across to Lynn Minster, will be used for holiday lets above the ground floor pub and deli.

Said Lucy: “The apartments will attract more tourists to come and stay in Lynn. In the pub we will be offering a choice of local ales and guest beers and we shall be talking to breweries from the area about featuring their products. The pub will be serving proper pub food, from breakfast until the evening, seven days a week. All the food will be locally sourced and prepared in the kitchen. The menu will include items such as home-made pies, good quality sausages and mash and fish pies.

“The deli will provide a range of food to take away, such as Richard’s home-made sourdough bread, plus sausage rolls, scotch eggs, super food salad boxes and cakes. It will be open from breakfast time until the early evening. The new positions will be for waiting staff, bar workers and cleaners.”

Renovation work is due to be completed around July and the opening will take place late August or early September. Said Lucy: “We haven’t decided upon a name yet. I have been researching its history and we want to choose something traditional.”
