Lynn’s well-known Wenns pub in Saturday Market Place is being completely renovated after closing recently.
The pub, which is a Grade II listed building, has been bought by new owners. The refurbishment is being undertaken by Lynn-based property developers TR Maintenance. Tom Hopkins, from the firm, said: “We are working on a renovation programme but at this stage its future use is still undecided.” The building was first used as a pub in 1872, when the licensee was Simon Claxton Luckly, who was succeeded by James Wenn in 1877 and Lizzie Wenn in 1889. The pub sign shows a typical East Anglian wherry.
