A team from Hughes Electrical got on their bikes to raise nearly £9,000 for a life saving charity.
Nigel Jeavons, Malcolm Tuff and David Young, travelled 500 miles in five days in June across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Their epic journey started in Spalding on June 6 and finished in Lynn on June 10. In between they visited 34 Hughes stores across the five counties.
Said Nigel, of Hughes’s Hunstanton branch: “Our original target was to raise £5,000 so the fact we have nearly doubled that is great news. While we are all keen cyclists 30-40 miles a day was our usual limit so having to more than double that for five consecutive days was a tough ask but somehow we managed it.
“The EAAA is such a great organisation that saves lives 365 days a year so it is particularly rewarding to know the money raised is going to such a good cause.”
The trio presented the cheque to EAAA chief executive Patrick Peal at its Norwich base who said: “These guys really pushed themselves in support of EAAA – we’re all really grateful.” Pictured, from left, are Nigel Jeavons, David Young, Patrick Peal and Malcolm Tuff.
