CAMRA Heacham pub before the camera

WEST Norfolk branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has presented the award for its Pub of the Year 2008 to the Fox and Hounds in Heacham.

As previously reported in the Lynn News, the winner was revealed in time for national Community Pubs Week in February.

The presentation took place at the pub, in Station Road, last month.

A spokesman for West Norfolk CAMRA said: "Since Mark and Marie Bristow took over at the Fox and Hounds eight years ago, it has become an excellent example of a community pub looking after locals and visitors to the district."

Six real ale beers were now readily available at the pub, he said, some of which come from their "very own Fox Brewery".

Mr Bristow said: "The pub is one of Britain's great institutions and we regard this as a triumph for our traditional community pub.

"I would like to thank all my staff for their hard work and diligence and also thanks to my customers for all their support."
