East Anglian Air Ambulance: See the Video
UP, up and away... take a trip into the skies with the East Anglian Air Ambulance team who do a vital job, year on year.
The team covers 5,000 square miles and a population of 2.5 million with two helicopters.
The helicopters, which fly an average four missions a day, are kept in the air mostly by charitable donations - no mean feat considering they cost 250,000 a month.
Lynn News photographer Paul Tibbs spent a day flying with the hard-working crews, as the attached video shows, as part of a series of films about the work of the emergency services locally.
Lynn News readers have done their bit for the service, raising 66,000 for an illuminated, all-weather helipad at the town's Queen Elizabeth Hospital to allow the helicopters to land there 24 hours a day, work on the helipad now taking place.
"Chances of survival of greater if you reach hospital within one hour - the 'Golden Hour'," said an East Anglian Air Ambulance spokesman.
Anyone want to donate to the air ambulance and its work should ring 08450 669 999.
