Gift in memory of Roydon woman

PARENTS have raised £1,560 in memory of their daughter and presented it to the Macmillan cancer care unit at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Beverley and Jim Boon, of Low Road, Roydon, have now organised four charity raffles and bingo evenings in their village in memory of Jamie King who was 34 when she died of cancer four years ago.

"We raised a little more than that last year but it is still a good amount and we know that the Macmillan centre is grateful for the money," said Mrs Boon.

She said that donors had been generous with prizes and people from Wisbech and as far afield as Norwich had joined the villagers at Pott Row village hall for the evening in August.

The couple, together with helper Josie High, presented the money to Lead Nurse Bev Perryman at the hospital.
