Mum's little Lovie

TWO West Norfolk families swapped turkey for milk and nappies when they welcomed new arrivals on Christmas Day.

Logan Robert Anderson Lovie had the honour of being the first baby born on Christmas Day at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, arriving at 2.37am and weighing 8lbs 2oz.

He is the first child for 19-year-old Kelly Gittens and her partner Tom Lovie, of Wootton Road, Gaywood.

They had been expecting the birth on December 21, but festive celebrations were put on hold when Miss Gitten's waters broke late on Christmas Eve after she had gone to bed.

Mr Lovie got his mother Joanne, who lives nearby, to drive them to hospital.

She said the birth of her first grandchild was the "best Christmas present ever".

Staff at the hospital's Castle Acre ward were kept busy through the night, with the second arrival at around 4.20am.

Piea Cawston (34), of Lynn, gave birth to her fourth child, William Andrew, who arrived 13 days later than expected.
