Royal wedding date set for May

AN INTIMATE crowd of around 50 people greeted The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as they attended morning prayer at Sandringham church on Sunday.

They were joined by grandson Peter Phillips, son of the Princess Royal, and his Canadian fiance Autumn Kelly, who are due to marry later this year.

It was the first time time the couple have been weekend guests of The Queen at Sandringham.

John Harris, of Heacham, asked Mr Phillips: "Will you tell us the date of your wedding?" To which he replied: "It is in May, so we have not long to wait."

The Queen was presented with flowers from 20 children after the service, which was taken by the Rector of Sandringham, the Rev Jonathan Riviere.

The preacher was the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten, former Dean of Norwich.
