Second attack from armed robbers

ANOTHER shop assistant is recovering from the shock of being held up by armed robbers, in the second attack of its kind in as many days.

A gang of men, believed to have been armed with a shotgun, went to Railway Stores, in Sutton Bridge, and stripped it of cash and cigarettes on Thursday (November 22), 24 hours after a similar attack in Castle Acre.

Armed police were deployed to Sutton Bridge after three men raided the Bridge Road store at around 8.25pm.

One demanded cash from the till and cigarettes before they fled in a waiting car.

It is thought the getaway vehicle was a silver/grey Volkswagen Passat later found abandoned in Chestnut Terrace, Sutton Bridge.

A 63-year-old shop assistant was said by police to be shaken but unharmed.

A female shop assistant and female customer were marched and ordered around Spar Store and Post Office, Castle Acre, when a gang of masked men armed with iron bars and a sawn-off shotgun struck at 8.30pm on Wednesday (Nov21), escaping with around 3,000 of cash and cigarettes.

The gang also fled with a Children in Need charity collecting tin, it has now emerged.

Officers have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the areas of either attack to come forward. Lincolnshire police are particularly keen to know if anyone saw the gang swapping cars in Chestnut Terrace.

Anyone with information about the attacks can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Calls are free, not recorded and the caller may receive a reward if their information results in an arrest and charge.
