Springwood sixth form group are 'brilliant'
SPRINGWOOD High School in Lynn welcomed back some familiar faces to celebrate the success of its sixth form students in this year's exams.
The annual Year 13 prizegiving evening saw former pupils returning to the Lynn school to be honoured by staff and colleagues for their excellent results, which were among the best-ever at Springwood.
The A level pass rate for this year was 96 per cent, with 64 per cent of all grades at A to C, while 23 students achieved the high grades required to become Norfolk Scholars, an all-time record for the school.
Headteacher Mr Peter Hopkins said: “This is very clear evidence of teacher expertise, parent support and, most of all, the talent and industry of our students. They are a supremely capable group of young people in a country whose examinations at this level are among the most stringent in the entire world.
“They are a brilliant group and we look forward with great interest to seeing what they do with their lives and the difference they will make to our community.
“I would like to congratulate the class of 2007 upon their success. They fully deserve the excellent grades they achieved through their exceptional abilities and sheer hard work.”
The school welcomed former sixth-form pupil Gemma Girdlestone as guest of honour for the evening, who addressed the students before presenting the certificates and prizes.
