Will Hunstanton hatch plans be dispatched?

CONTROVERSIAL plans to install a service hatch for cold drinks and ice creams at Hunstanton Pier will fall under the spotlight on Monday.

CHS Amusements is hoping to install the hatch to offer refreshments to members of the public relaxing on The Green without them having to enter the building.

A decision on the application will be made when at West Norfolk Council's development control board meeting.

The scheme has been recommended for approval even though the council has received a formal objection from Hunstanton Town Council and 14 letters of opposition. The town council has said the hatch would further exacerbate the existing commercial encroachment on The Green and there is no proven need for extra ice cream or drink outlets.
