A cardboard canoe race is one of the new attractions of this year’s Hilgay Raft Race.
Entries are now being taken for the popular event to be held on the River Wissey on Sunday, July 5.
Scores of people braved the rain last year to support the teams which were racing down the river.
Organisers of the raft race have added an extra addition into the 2015 event by encouraging people to get busy and make a cardboard canoe.
One of the people behind the event is butcher Ali Dent, who also works with the Rotary Club of Downham on this event.
He said: “We thought we would add something a little different.
“The canoes will be able to get a little way before they disappear.”
Mr Dent is also putting out an appeal for tyre inner tubes for one of the races.
Spectators will also go quakers for the Hilgay Duck Race along with a chance to have a pay and play session with canoes and kayaks.
Plus there will be a host of fun activities on the river bank along with the popular barbecue.
This year’s event will be raising money for the Norfolk Hospice, which is based in Hillington.
The 2014 raft race raised a total of £4,000 for the Stroke Association.
