A unique event is on the cards to enable local charities to raise more awareness about what they do.

Charities Assemble! is being organised for Wednesday, May 3, to bring a host of organisations together in the Assembly Room at Lynn Town Hall from 10am-2pm.

Borough mayor David Whitby said: “Throughout my year in office I have had the opportunity to visit many charities and see the great work that they do.

“The people who work or volunteer for these charities are so dedicated to their causes and really do make a difference to people’s lives. They are true unsung, capeless heroes.”

He said it occurred to him that many people are unaware of the range of charities in and around West Norfolk.

Mr Whitby added: “This event is an opportunity for charities to really showcase the work they do, and to show people how they can provide help and support.

“It is also an opportunity for charities to appeal to people who may be thinking of volunteering or fundraising.”

The mayor is inviting the charities he has visited over the last two years, but is also urging any other charities to get in touch with the Civics Office to book a space.

You can contact them on 01553 762124 or civics.officer@west-norfolk.gov.uk

Places are limited due to the space at the hall and the event is free to attend.
