A charity has announced plans to open its first shop and information and advice centre in Lynn next month.

A launch party will be held on September 6 to unveil the new Age UK Norfolk facility on High Street.

And local people are being asked to bring along items, including clothing, accessories, unwanted gifts, books and DVDs which can then be sold on to raise funds towards the charity’s work to develop future services.

Officials say they hope the new site, which is close to the town’s bus station, will make it easier for people to make donations, buy products or find out more about how the group can help them.

Chief executive Hilary Macdonald said: “We are very excited to be opening our first shop and are grateful to all staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to get the new shop up and running.

“We hope to see lots of local people popping in to meet the team and have a look through our items.

“Every purchase or item donated to the shop will help support older people living in Norfolk.”

Anyone interested in volunteering at the new centre is asked to phone the charity on 01603 785241 or email for more information.
