New shoots will be seen blooming in Downham thanks to the green fingers of youngsters.

Children from the Nelson Academy have been doing their bit to help the Downham In Bloom committee.

Members are making preparations for their Anglia in Bloom entry later this year.

Around 40 pupils from the school planted daffodil and crocus bulbs outside Tthe Grange Care Home in Clackclose Road.

Chairman of Downham in Bloom, Marion Ross was delighted with youngsters efforts.

The Downham town councillor said: “This is the second year that the academy has joined us to plant bulbs outside The Grange. It’s great to see the children so happy planting the bulbs and it’s lovely to think that when the flowers finally come up, the children will be able to say they made the area look like.”
