Fens South Road Federation had their fourth race of the season from Lyndhurst (2) when 11 clubs sent 2,160 birds, writes Kevin Mason.

Once again local flyers did well especially Rod and Gloria Ogden who race with the Clenchwarton club and topped the Fed for the second week running. Second went to Her Majesty the Queen with the New Lynn club.

Other results: fifth, sixth and 19th Kim Peacock and Bernie Byrne; 8th Eddie, Jim and Guy Perry; 14th Gaywood winner Will Byrne; 20th Linda Simper.

Two results for the Clenchwarton (North) this week. The first race was from Dunbar with the NRCC when eight clubs sent 83 birds. The Heacham team of Pete and Scott Garwood had a good race with three of their birds making the top six. Their winner took 4hrs 19 mins to fly 246 miles.

Result: 1, 3, 4 Pete and Scott Garwood, 1670 1610 1605; 2 Her Majesty the Queen, 1622; 5 George Moon, 1529; 6 Gerry Knights & Sons, 1528.

The above club’s second race was from Budwith when seven lofts sent 80 birds. Watlington pensioner Ken Jolly won his first race of the season when his winning bird took 1hr 34 mins to fly the 94 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 4 Ken Jolly, 1768 1749 1600; 3, 5, 6 Ted and Sandra Scott, 1732 1578 1576.

Clenchwarton (South) raced from Salisbury when seven members sent 132 birds. Fifth race and the fifth win for Rod and Gloria Ogden when their Busschaert’s took 3hrs 9 mins to fly 142 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3, Rod and Gloria Ogden & Sons, 1318, 1317 and 1312; 4, 5 Ted and Sandra Scott, 1255 1253; 6 Dale and Neil Dennis, 1249.

Wereham also raced from Salisbury when eight members sent 147 birds. Rodney Cochrane won his second race of the season, taking four of the club’s cards in the top six and his winner took 2hrs 33 mins to fly 139 miles. I’m sure that the first two birds must be in with a chance of topping the Fed for Rodney.

Result: 1, 2, 3, 5 Rodney Cochrane, 1600 1597 1556 1531; 4 Billy Mellett, 1541; 6 Steve Ward, 1528.
