A man has admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a dog by binding the animal in tape, kicking it and holding a knife to its head.

Rodney Richardson, 47, of Warrens Road, Clenchwarton, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before magistrates in Lynn this morning.

He also pleaded guilty to counts of assault and sending offensive, obscene, indecent or menacing messages.

He had been due to stand trial on all three charges today.

Court papers showed the messages were sent between April 15 and May 14 this year.

The assault and animal cruelty offences were both committed on May 14.

Magistrates adjourned the case until July 8 for pre-sentence reports to be compiled. Richardson was bailed until then.
