Adam Off Air - Sound no longer secret

After 11 months and over 1,000 guesses, last week the KL.FM Secret Sound was eventually won.

Michael Clare was listening to Hometime with Simon Rowe while travelling from King’s Lynn to Ely and he fancied his chances so called the studio.

He got through, guessed that the Secret Sound was the noise of someone tearing a cheque out of a cheque book and took home an amazing £2,790!

What a lovely surprise for Michael and his family just in time for Christmas. Now, as we expected, we’ve had the odd one or two listeners contact KL.FM with the usual “it sounds nothing like it!” comments. If you’d like to see a video of us creating the sound, it’s on my blog at www.klfm967.co.uk.

And come on! It would be a pretty rubbish ‘secret’ if the noise was something as obvious as a duck quacking or a toilet flushing!

Keep listening because the Secret Sound WILL return.

£2,790 hasn’t been the only big cash prize won on KL.FM this year and I thought that now would be a good time to reflect on what has been a great year of winners.

We started the year with a £1,000 donation to local charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers who help children with the grieving process after losing a parent in the armed forces.

I must say, massive congratulations to Nikki Scott and the team for their recent success in winning a Military Award for their support to the British armed forces. Nikki put a call into the show last week after a very glitzy night in London and she seemed totally star struck after hanging out with Frank Lampard, Ricky Gervais and David Jason!

The event is broadcast on ITV1 on Friday night at 9pm.

Right, back to the cash. Another £1,000 was shared between listeners who took part in KL.FM’s Super Trooper Bear Hunt, plus there was a further £300 dished out to listeners who helped us improve our playlist and output through our Soundcheck surveys.

Our next charitable donation of £500 went to the NHS Trust as nominated by KR Fireplaces, the winning business of KL.FM’s Duck Race 2012. We also gave listener Chris from North Lynn £500 because he backed that duck to win!

At Race For Life we donated £100 to Cancer Research UK and gave another £100 to one of the runners.

I’ve handed out over £500 on the breakfast show through the Secret Codeword competition and the VIP Club, plus I’ve poured over £500 of fuel into the tanks of lucky listeners on Free Fuel Friday.

Plus every morning at 8:20 we play the KL.FM £1,000 Minute and we had a winner on that too!

If my sums are correct, by the end of the year we would’ve given away over £8,000 in cash prizes and donations!

And there’s still a chance to win this week on our latest promotion Bus Stop Bandits with Norfolk Green.

Listen to KL.FM every morning at 8.40 to find out how to win your share of £500 just in time for Christmas (OK, that’s enough plugs for your show, Adam – Ed).
