That’s Entertainment - January 11

Well, I survived the recent New Year’s celebrations and got back to dry land whilst sharing a long and gruelling sea voyage being described in the new movie The Life of Pi shown locally,

I am now pleased to report there’s much to look forward to entertainment-wise in the area in 2013 – and it will take quite a lot to beat 2012 as that was quite an exceptional and special year.

So let’s get started straight a way with the dance! La Salsa Negra has moved to a new venue in London Road, Lynn and is holding Salsa classes for all abilities at the Conservative Club there.

Now is a great time to start something new and make new friends so if you have not danced before why not join the beginners’ class 7.30-8.30pm on Thursday nights?

You can turn up on the night or contact Lesley Denison on 07733468333 for all the details; you do not have to bring a partner. Salsa classes for improvers are also being provided on a Wednesday night and later on the Thursday evening. Get in touch now – you will get a friendly reception.

My Panto of the Week spot continues into this New Year with a plug for the famous Pocahontas Players and their production of Mother Goose coming up soon. Heacham Public Hall, Station Road is the venue and ticket prices are modest.

There are evening shows on Thursday and Friday, January 24 and 25 at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2pm on the Saturday as well as the evening performance. It’s going to be a hoot (don’t think geese do that!) but you can get in touch with Janice on 014845 570402 or Jim on 01485 571267 to find out more.

For the next cool event,“Bro”, (that’s how it’s now said, I understand) VIP Entertainment is presenting a Soul, Funk and Disco Inferno Night on the evening of Friday, January 25 at The Conservative Club on London Road, Lynn, with the doors opening at 7pm.

Tickets for the event are just £5 and you can hear more about this great night’s entertainment by phoning 07766 683854 now.

I have no doubt Valentine’s Day will feature in the column over the next few weeks. At Heights in Lynn, the Club 13-17, is holding a Valentine’s Black and White UV Party between 6.30 and 10pm on Monday, February 11.

Free glow sticks, face painting as well as unlimited soft drinks will be on offer. Entry is £8. Get on to www.facebook.com/club1317 or you visit www.heightsnightclub.com to enjoy this event in New Conduit Street.
