FINCHAM: Two arrested in rave shutdown

Two men have been arrested following an unlicensed music event that took place over the weekend at a chalk pit in Fincham.

Police first became aware of the event, which is thought to have had around 1,000 people in attendance, at about 10.40pm on Saturday when a large convoy of vehicles was seen and followed to Limekiln Plantation, on Marham Road, in the village.

The gathering was on a remote area of land that is difficult to access by vehicle. Police assisted overnight in monitoring the situation, bringing the event to a peaceful end early in the afternoon of Sunday.

Supt Dave Marshall, local policing commander for the area, said: “Those attending this event showed a complete disregard for road safety, the agricultural land and the local community.”

He added: “Following the closure of the event, a large amount of sound equipment and a vehicle were seized with two arrests made. The suspects were later bailed pending further investigations.”
