Two local charities were the recipients of an organiser’s bingo collections last week.
Caroline Petchey, founder of Caroline’s Charity Bingo evenings in Congham, presented cheques to Jonathan Toye of West Norfolk Disability Information Service for £500, and to Louise Cook, fundraising manager of Norfolk and Norwich Radiotherapy Target Appeal for £1,785.64.
These events are held once a month, and Mrs Petchey, who is now in her fourth year of organising the fundraising nights, chose these particular charities as they are local and she has a personal connection with them both.
Mrs Petchey said: “It is my way of putting something back into the community.”
She thanks Kath and Karl Long, landlords of Anvil Inn where the bingo is held, Chris Eglen and Deanna Lunneff, who help her put the prizes together, to Kate Bevans, who came up with the idea of bingo in the first place, and to Gill Knobes, for her assistance with finances. Local businesses and shops who donate prizes are also thanked.
