Developers have submitted new plans for a veterinary practice in Swaffham.

Breckland Council officials are considering the proposal for the site in Tower Meadow, which has been submitted by applicant Mike Hastings, from Downham.

A report submitted to the council on Mr Hastings’ behalf claimed that the only veterinary surgery currently operating within a ten-mile radius of the town was a small branch of a practice which had access problems and where
much of the treatment had to be transferred to Fakenham.

The report claimed: “It has been established that there is a definite need for more veterinary care in the area.”

The report also argued that Mr Hastings had spent a year seeking alternative suitable premises in the town, of which none had become available.
