Creative efforts at Highgate win shield
CREATIVE parents and youngsters at a Lynn school have been presented with a special prize by North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham.
Highgate Infant School were the proud winners of the Cool Crazee Carnival shield for best float after it took part in the first annual event last month.
Mr Bellingham presented the award while visiting the Gaywood Road School.
Headteacher Mrs Christine Holden said: "It was very exciting to have Henry Bellingham come and visit.
"I would especially like to thank one of our mums, Sally Rayner, who has been a complete star. She was the main instigator of all the designs for the costumes. Our theme was Noah's Ark and she produced some wonderful costumes, such as zebras and peacocks.
"She opened up her house throughout the summer and had people round for fittings – it was super.
"Without her it would not have happened. Other mums helped out too – it was a real community effort. North Lynn is a great community and we want to be part of it."
Pupil Emily Clayden (6) was also presented with a special award after she was named carnival queen at the event, held at Lynnsport on Saturday, September 8. The carnival was organised by North Lynn Community Association to bring people of all ages together and it hopes to hold the event again next year.
