Driving ban after switch of drinks

A BUILDING site foreman got an 18-month driving ban after switching from his usual ale and getting behind the wheel.

Paul Wakefield, 55, of Gong Lane, Burnham Overy Staithe, admitted drink driving, at West Norfolk Magistrates’ Court, in Lynn, on Wednesday.

Roger Glazebrook, mitigating, said Wakefield had a different drink to usual and it was stronger. He had 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. Wakefield was also fined £400 and must pay £100 costs. He can reduce his ban by four months on completion of a drink-drive course.
