Jailed for threat to stab girlfriend

A MAN who threatened to stab his girlfriend in the face was jailed for 19 weeks yesterday.

Jordan Hall, 22, of Clapper Lane, Clenchwarton, had pleaded guilty to criminal damage, three offences of assault by beating and two of common assault at an earlier hearing.

Josephine Jones, prosecuting, told Lynn Magistrates that on January 29 police were called by a woman who said her partner had assaulted her.

Hall was arrested and received a police caution, then was taken back home where his girlfriend had said she was happy to have him back.

However, when he discovered his girlfriend had packed his belongings he became angry and threatened to stab her, Miss Jones said.

A police officer was still in his car outside Hall’s home when his girlfriend ran out of the house carrying her four-year-old daughter and said Hall had threatened to stab her in the face.

Miss Jones told the court that in September Hall had grabbed his girlfriend round the throat and pushed her against a cupboard.

In October, he had thrown a plastic jug at her, while in November he had threatened to kill her and in January had punched a hole the bedroom door.

She said he smoked up to six cannabis joints a day and described himself as jealous, paranoid, upset and angry.

Roger Glazebrook, in mitigation, said Hall had moved to the area when he started a relationship with his former girlfriend after meeting her on the internet. He said he was jealous of the girl.

Magistrates sentenced Hall to 19 weeks in prison for the assaults, with eight weeks to run concurrently for criminal damage.

A restraining order was also imposed preventing Hall from contacting his former girlfriend, or from entering West Norfolk.
