Lynn: Jailed for electric theft

A 21-YEAR-OLD was jailed for 10 weeks after failing to keep appointments with probation officers under the terms of a suspended sentence order.

Callam Smales, of Railway Road, Lynn, was given 12 weeks in prison suspended for a year in July for unlawfully taking electric and theft.

He failed to attend a probation appointment in November and then missed a court appearance about it, West Norfolk Magistrates’ Court, in Lynn, was told on Wednesday.

Smales’ sentence was reduced by two weeks to give him credit for work he had completed under the supervision of probation services since July.

He was told he is likely to serve five weeks behind bars before being released on licence, but could be returned to prison to complete the entire 10-week sentence if he commits any other offence.
