Teen jailed for threats to boy
A TEENAGER described by his solicitor as being “in the lowest one per cent of intellect in his age group” was sent to prison for eight weeks yesterday.
Mark Rix, 19, of King Street, Swaffham, admitted causing criminal damage to a moped and two offences of using threatening behaviour.
Josephine Jones, prosecuting, said on December 21 Rix had pushed a moped over then threatened its owner.
In January he had twice used threatening words or behaviour towards a 14-year-old boy.
Alison Muir, in mitigation, said Rix been in care most of his life and had been moved from one care home to another. She added: “There has been absolutely no stability in his life whatsoever.”
Miss Muir said Rix was not aware that the language he used could be inappropriate and distressing.
Magistrates sentenced Rix to eight weeks in prison and ordered him to pay £100 compensation to the owner of the moped. A restraining order was also imposed preventing him from contacting the 14-year-old boy.
