The Wisbech Recycling Centre has re-opened after it was closed this morning as a result of a bomb scare.

The centre, in Boleness Road, Wisbech, was shut just after 10am after staff found a suspicious object.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “Staff identified a suspicious object this morning.

“The bomb squad have been called to deal with the situation.

“At the moment we do not know what the object is.”

The army bomb squad was called to the centre.

The site was re-opened at about 2pm.
