There were many unhappy returns of the day for 18th birthday girl Stacey Sadler when she celebrated reaching adulthood by breaking the law.
The teenager, of Barons Close, Fakenham, appeared before an adult court for the first time on Tuesday, the day after “getting out of her head” on drink and drugs to celebrate turning 18.
Lynn magistrates heard she was on bail at the time, awaiting sentence in Lynn Youth Court next week for offences of criminal damage and threatening behaviour.
Sadler’s bail conditions included a curfew between 7pm and 7am, and not to be found drunk in a public place.
But Yvonne Neill, prosecuting, said police found her drunk on the streets of Fakenham at 8.18pm.
They also found a small amount of cannabis on her, for which she received a caution.
Miss Neill told the court: “To be out of her head on the streets of Fakenham when she knows she shouldn’t be is an appalling story.”
Neil Meacham, representing Sadler, said she accepted she breached her bail conditions, but added “we’re only 18 once”.
Magistrates let Sadler off without punishment, but warned her to stay away from alcohol before her sentencing next Tuesday.
