A former diplomat will be sworn in as Norfolk’s new police and crime commissioner today.
Lorne Green, of Snettisham, will be making his Declaration of Office at the Safe Haven Project in Norwich.
Mr Green is hoping this will highlight the voluntary sector.
He will also issue a call to action to the county’s statutory partners to work more closely with each other and the voluntary sector in tackling vulnerability and the risk of harm in Norfolk.
Mr Green said: “I’ve met with a number of Norfolk’s voluntary organisations and I know they don’t do what they do for recognition or credit but I think we, as a county, owe them a great debt.
“Their efforts keep vulnerable people safe from harm and prevent crime, thereby reducing demand on our police officers so they can focus on prevention and investigation.”
Mr Green has vowed to give chief constable Simon Bailey £50,000 to recruit new officers.
