The Dean of Norwich is to visit Lynn this summer to carry out two official engagements.
The Very Revd Dr Jane Hedges is to visit Gaywood on June 20 when she will cut the ribbon at 2pm to officially open St Faith’s Church garden fete which is being held in the garden of Gaywood Rectory on Gayton Road.
She will then tour its colourful selection of stalls and sideshows and chat to fete-goers.
The following month, on Sunday, July 12, Dean Hedges is set to return to King’s Lynn when she is the guest preacher at the King’s Lynn Festival service at Lynn Minister.
The Dean, who was appointed to her role at Norwich Cathedral in June last year after serving as Archdeacon of Westminster and Sub-Dean of Westminster Abbey, is looking forward to being at the fete.
Richard Parr, St Faith’s senior churchwarden, said: “We are delighted that the Dean has kindly accepted our invitation to come along and open our summer fete and I know that she is very much looking forward to being with us in the Rectory Garden on June 20.”
Admission to the fete is free and the fun starts at 2pm. If the weather is wet, the event – one of the main fundraising events for the church in the year – will be in the nearby Gaywood Church Rooms.
