A man who repeatedly shouted and swore at his girlfriend outside a Lynn nightclub admitted he “went a bit stupid” when he appeared in court.

Daniel Gent, 29, of Manor Road, Dersingham, admitted being drunk and disorderly at a hearing on Thursday.

The court heard that police had been called to deal with a man staggering outside Chicago’s in Norfolk Street at around 2.15am on November 1.

Prosecutor Alison Cotterill said Gent was arrested after ignoring four separate warnings from police about his behaviour.

Representing himself, he told magistrates he had been struggling to cope with a relative’s illness at the time.

He said: “I had one of those nights where I just thought ‘Sod it’ and went a bit stupid. I just want to apologise.”

Gent was fined £100 and told to pay a further £255 in costs and charges.
