Residents in Dersingham are being invited to hear an update on plans for a new village centre at an event tomorrow.

The News and Views event is being held in the village’s St Nicholas Church hall, on Manor Road, between 11am and 3pm on Saturday.

It will include updates on the progress of the project, which is proposed for the site of the current church hall.

There will also be details of what the new complex is intended to offer and details of how villagers can get involved in fundraising.

Residents will be able to see and comment on the proposed designs of the new building, while a number of community organisations will also be represented.

Parish council chairman Sue Payne said: “This event is part of our ongoing consultation with the community and we look forward to talking to local residents about this amazing project.”

David Collingham, chairman of the Dersingham Village Centre Association, added: “This is the ideal opportunity for the community to give us feedback on practical aspects of the new facility.”

An application has been made for financial backing from the Big Lottery Fund, although a decision has yet to be made.

Refreshments will be available to visitors throughout the day.

And some spaces are still available for community groups who wish to take part to have displays at the event.

For further information, contact Sue Payne on 07790 349896.

More information about the project can be found online at www.dersinghamvillagecentre.org.uk.

A new lottery was set up earlier this month to help raise funds towards the centre scheme.
