Edith and Eddie Forshaw of Tilney St Lawrence celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary with a party for around 35 members of their family from all over the country at Elme Hall Hotel, near Wisbech.
Edith, 82, and Eddie, 83, met in the romantic surroundings of Edinburgh Castle when she worked in the accounting office of Scottish Command and he was serving with the Army Pay Corp. They married in 1955 at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh and brought up a family of five children in Scotland. They moved to Norfolk in 1974 and settled in Tilney when Eddie took a job with Dredging and Construction. Edith worked for RG Carter. After finishing work they ran a Friendship Club for retirees and still keep up with friends at a lunch club. They now have 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Edith is a whizz on her computer and keeps up with her family’s antics on Facebook. And their secret of a happy marriage – a sense of humour and a close family.
