Dinners to help Swaffham siblings

A Swaffham family is set to benefit from the proceeds of two charity dinners, which are being hosted by a West Norfolk company.

Tickets are now available for the events, to be held in April and July to support siblings Sophie and Tom Burke.

The pair have a rare inherited condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which affects the tissues that support the skin, bones, internal organs, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels.

Sophie had to have a peg fitted directly into her body last year as she is unable to eat properly and digest food. Although Tom is still able to eat, he faces daily pain.

The family have previously been supported by West Lynn-based firm Sprinkle Twinkle, who have raised money to provide photography equipment for Sophie to pursue a college course and given Tom vouchers to attend local attractions and arranged for him to be a mascot for Norwich City.

Now the company has announced details of two sportsmen’s dinner and auction evenings to be held at the Knights Hill Hotel.

The first, on April 20, will feature former England cricketer and national selector Geoff Miller as guest speaker.

Ex-footballer Alan Kennedy, who won the European Cup twice during his career with Liverpool in the 1980s, is due to attend the second dinner on July 6.

Anyone who would like to book tickets, donate raffle prizes or sponsor either evening should phone Premier Sporting Dinner Events on 01553 816519 for further details.
