Docking EBA Bowls Club held their first fete on Saturday, offering not only traditional fete attractions but also a target bowls competition that drew a large and enthusiastic entry.
Club president, Michael Everett explained why the fundraising was needed: “With just over 30 members this places a great strain on efforts to keep membership fees down. All clubs have this problem. It ends up with high membership fees which make it especially expensive for pensioners.” Organiser Carol Playford said: “We had a brilliant response and I would like to thank everyone who supported us. It was a lovely, lovely day.” The target bowls, arranged by Cathy Shepherd and Angie Hammond, was won by Brian Ledgerwood, Robin Burrel and Michael Cave. The day raised £640 for club funds.
