A cheque for £500 was handed over to the neonatal intensive care unit at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital by Runcton Holme woman Janice Farnham after donations were collected at the funeral of her husband Dave.

Mrs Farnham lost twins when she gave birth prematurely while abroad in 1976. She later gave birth to two sons at the QEH and recently a granddaughter was born there.

Mrs Farnham said: “Although Dave died of cancer, he requested that funeral donations be made to NICU, which was a cause close to his heart following the loss of our twins in 1976.

“At the time there was very little specialist medical care and support for premature babies.

“Parents in this area and Dave would have been honoured to feel that he contributed to the unit by giving money to help other families in similar situations.”
