Members of Downham Lionesses have raised hundreds of pounds for a ward at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in memory of a friend.
The club wanted to honour former treasurer June Thorington, who died last June.
Members organised a popular quiz night at the Downham Conservative Club in September to raise money for the ward.
The event raised £350 which will be donated to the hospital’s equipment fund.
Lioness President Jess Flower presenting the cheque to Staff Nurse Natasha LeGresley together with Margaret Fox, June Ingram and June Mills.
Secretary Mrs Fox said the club were pleased to donate money to the good cause.
She said: “We thought it would be nice to raise money for the Shouldham ward’s equipment fund in memory of June.
“She was a long standing member and had been treasurer for a number of years.
“We wanted to honour June along with helping other people who are being treated on the ward.”
The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the Conservative Club, in Bridge Street, from 7.45pm. New members are welcome.
