A man has appeared in court accused of robbery and threatening burger van staff with a firearm in connection with an incident in Lynn yesterday.

Jack Wardle, 18, of Hillcrest, Downham, was remanded in custody when he appeared before magistrates in Lynn this morning.

He faces charges of robbery and possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence. No plea was entered.

An application for bail was submitted on Wardle’s behalf, but was refused.

In an earlier statement, police said the case related to an incident on Hansa Road, Lynn, at around 12.45pm yesterday, in which a man working on a burger van was threatened and had £50 cash stolen. No-one was injured.

Wardle, whose parents watched the proceedings from the public gallery, was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on August 6.
