People power is needed at Downham’s new heritage and learning centre.

Discover Downham is putting out an appeal for volunteers to help out with its educational programmes and activity days.

Downham and District Heritage Society has transformed the town’s former fire station under a £650,000 project, which received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Learning officer Meg Barclay is hoping to find as many volunteers as possible to complete a variety of tasks.

People of all ages are needed to help make posters, run craft activities and help to bring history to life by wearing period costumes. The centre will be launching its schools programme in September.
