Staff and pupils at a nursery school are celebrating after getting top marks in an Ofsted inspection.
Downham Nursery School was rated as outstanding in all four categories assessed by the inspectors during the visit in January.
The nursery, which is part of the Downham Preparatory School and Montessori Nursery, was praised for its leadership, teaching and pupil development.
The inspectors’ report said: “The quality of teaching is consistently of a high quality.
“Staff are enthusiastic and successfully engage children in stimulating activities which offer appropriate levels of challenge and reflect children’s individual interests.
“Staff regularly observe children as they play. They accurately assess children’s progress and identify their next steps in learning. Information is shared regularly with parents.
“Staff highly value parents’ contributions about their children’s achievements at home.
“Children’s behaviour is exceptionally good.
“They are confident and show high levels of self-control, displaying respect for each other and the environment.”
The owner of the nursery, which is based in Lynn Road, is Elizabeth Laffeaty-Sharpe, who is thrilled with the result of the latest inspection report.
