Spectators will have an improved experience in watching matches at a sports pavilion thanks to a £16,000 makeover.

Downham Sports Federation building in Mill Lane now has a new landscape and patio area.

The refurbishment has been made possible thanks to grants from Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) and West Norfolk Council.

A landscaped area and patio has been added to the pavilion, to improve the spectator experience.

The site also has had replacement windows and doors fitted, which make the building more comfortable to be in and cost-effective to run.

David Pope, the council’s cabinet member for leisure facilities, said: “The refurbishment has transformed this well-used local facility and we’re very grateful to WREN for their support.”

Sarah Gosling, WREN grant manager for Norfolk said: “We’re pleased to be able to support the pavilion, as it will enable new groups to hire it and benefit from a warm, comfortable environment. With the new patio area, it will encourage more people to come along and support sports events too.”

Downham Market Sports Federation building, which is owned by the council, is available for local sports clubs to hire.
