Downham will be joining in the celebrations for The Queen’s 90th birthday by lighting its beacon later this month.

Downham Town Council is organising a special musical event on Thursday, April 21, close to St Edmund’s Church.

Musical entertainment will be provided on the night, which starts at 7pm, by Downham Swing Orchestra.

Residents who are also celebrating their 90th birthdays this year will also be invited to take part in this event.

Mayor John Fox is encouraging people to come along and join in the celebrations.

He said: “We are hoping to see as many people as possible.

“It is important to mark the Queen’s birthday.

“We like to do our bit in Downham.”
