Downham Water Festival will return this Sunday for more fiesty fun following the success of the dragon slaying celebrations held back in April.

Bringing a good dose of myth and legend to the town, Downham Town Council plan to introduce the next dragon-inspired legend to the town with Dragon Boat Racing.

The tenth instalment of the annual festival will boast some spectacular scenes with Dragon Boat Racing on the River Great Ouse Relief Channel.

This exotic Chinese festival has an ancient history and is a re-enactment of a tragic event that took place more than 2000 years ago in the kingdom of Chu.

Downham Market Water Festival 2016 promises to be bigger and better than ever, attracting thousands to the town once again, with plenty of opportunities to be involved for companies, clubs and societies who fancy a bit of team building.

If all this fires your imagination, there is still time to get a team of up to 11 people together and sign up for the Downham Market Dragon Boat Challenge.

No previous experience is required and the Festival promises a fantastic day out for all the teams and their families. There will also be plenty of land-based fun activities on the riverbank including arena displays, funfair, food outlets and stalls.
