ENTERTAINERS Great Gappo and Crazy Bananas led an open day of circus-themed activities at Lynn’s Fairstead Primary School.

Parents, governors, members of the community were invited to join in the juggling and japes.

Visitors included West Norfolk Mayor and Mayoress Colin and Susan Sampson, local councillor Mrs Margaret Wilkinson and pupils from nearby Churchill Park Complex Needs School.

Nearly 300 pupils took part in workshops with plate-spinning proving particularly popular. Maths and science work were also linked to circus skills.

The day was arranged by headteacher Suzanne O’Connor and teaching assistant Adele Jenkinson to showcase the school.

Ms O’Connor said: “We wanted people to come in and see our school, which is rated good by Ofsted. We thought it would be nice to have a circus theme and give everyone a chance to try the activities.”

It was also a non-uniform day and a number of youngsters dressed as clowns and circus characters.
