STUDENTS joined members of the older generation for a day of knitting to celebrate old age.
Pupils of Greyfriars Primary school joined King’s Lynn Library’s Knit and Knatter group to celebrate Older People’s Day.
The school had recently launched its own knitting group and Year 5 children were excited to join the group to learn more about knitting.
The children were taught to knit witches and ghosts to hang up for Hallowe’en, they also made keyrings and pom-poms among other things.
Elena Parkin, who helped to organise the day, said: “The children had an absolutely wonderful time, they loved it. One little boy had to be given knitting needles and wool to take home and finish what he was doing.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves, the children said a lot of their grandparents knitted and they thought it was good to learn.”
The event was mainly organised by Sheila Husband who also runs knitting group Teeny Toppers.
The King’s Lynn Library holds it’s Knit and Knatter group once every month, the next meeting will be on November 1 and anyone is welcome to join them for free, whether experienced at knitting or completely new to it.
