Nicholas Hamond Academy get survival tips

It may look like a swimming lesson, but students at the Nicholas Hamond Academy took to the pool to get some survival tips instead.

How to keep warm and conserve energy while waiting to be rescued were among the subjects explored during a dedicated activity day.

The programme also included a visit from representatives of the charity Sense, who gave the pupils insights into basic sign language, the use of a Braille machine and how blind or deaf people carry out everyday tasks. Picture submitted
