Pupils make their mark on Swaffham Infant School

Pupils from Swaffham Infant and Nursery School have unveiled the new mosaic they had built to display in the school reception with help of a Castle Acre artist.

All of the children took it in turns to work with their artist-in-residence for the week, Carolyn Ash, to lay the tiles and create the final piece.

Headteacher Marion Link said: “Everyone had a hand in it, the children drew designs and we chose a combination of three.

“They all helped with sticking and pasting, the parents and teachers also helped out.

“We wanted something that every child could be a part of and be proud of.

“We wanted to make explicit our church school foundation and Christian ethos.”

She added: “We’d been looking at how we present ourselves as a school and we’ve been redecorating parts of the school. Everything is moving forward.

“The children are all so proud and they keep pointing out to their parents which bits they stuck down, they can remember each tile!”
