WEST WALTON: Night at the Oscars for young writers

West Walton Community Primary School hold their annual Oscar awards ceremony.

West Walton Community Primary School hold their annual Oscar awards ceremony.

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood came to West Walton when primary school pupils held their own Oscars ceremony.

Dressed in their finery, five lucky children won their categories and were awarded shining figurines to take home and put on their mantelpieces.

The ceremony marked the end of a three-week literacy festival during which pupils celebrated the written word through visitors to the school, puppet shows and drama.

Awards were given in five categories – Overall Story Writer, Character, Storyteller, Setting and Plot.

Unfortunately there was no red carpet but that didn’t stop the children from having an exciting time on the last day of school before the half term holiday.
