Electoral letters go out on Friday

From Friday, residents in West Norfolk will start to receive letters telling them that the way they register to vote is changing.

The vast majority of electors in West Norfolk will receive a letter confirming that their details have been transferred across to the new registration system and the Register which will be published on December 1, 2014.

Each individual within the household now has a legal responsibility to register, so people within the same house may receive different letters depending on what they need to do.

Anyone who is not automatically transferred to the new system will receive an invitation to register.

They should follow the instructions in the letter and either go online to register or fill in and return the form.

Mary Colangelo, electoral services manager at the borough council, said: “Just over 90 per cent of people in our area will transfer automatically to the new system of registration which is great news.

“Those people will receive a letter from us confirming that they are registered and all they need to do is check that the details on their letter are correct.”

All letters should have been delivered either by canvassers or Royal Mail by Sunday, August 10.

Anyone who has not received any correspondence should contact us after that date so that we can help them to register.
